Primitives

Tachi is new, so here's how its building blocks map to Bitcoin concepts you already know.

TAURUS

Native-BTC self-custody vaults secured by on-chain timelocks. Similar safety guarantees to a Lightning channel, but without the channel management — users can always exit unilaterally back to mainnet once the timelock elapses. The foundation for deposits, collateral, and custody.

VTXOs (Virtual UTXOs)

UTXOs that live off-chain but can be redeemed on-chain at any time. They behave like the UTXOs you already work with, but settle off-chain for fast, Lightning-like sends and receives — an Ark-style model.

SatVM

Tachi's execution environment. Your Bitcoin Script skills apply directly, and the same environment also supports EVM, SVM, Wasm, and ABCI for teams who want richer contract logic, with no change to Bitcoin consensus.

HAT / RIP

Bitcoin-anchored proof systems that let anyone independently verify off-chain activity — balances, proof-of-reserves, loan health — against Bitcoin, so you are not trusting an operator.

x402

Native-sat payment rails built on the HTTP 402 “Payment Required” pattern, for pay-per-request and machine-to-machine payments.

Description

Build a sleek mobile and desktop wallet that lets users onboard BTC into TAURUS vaults and spend sats off-chain with a smooth, Lightning-like experience, while preserving true self-custody and strong unilateral exit guarantees using the TAURUS SDK.

Objective

Create the best user experience for sovereign Bitcoin spending. Users should be able to deposit BTC, manage VTXOs, send and receive payments, and exit back to mainnet unilaterally if needed.

What It Needs to Prove

Tachi can deliver a superior UX compared to Lightning while offering stronger sovereignty: no channel management, no force-closure risks, and clear unilateral timelocked exits.

  • Support TAURUS vault creation and management
  • Smooth off-chain sending and receiving via VTXOs
  • Clear display of on-chain vs. off-chain balance

Build a BTC-collateralized stable asset protocol on Tachi, allowing users to lock BTC-native collateral and mint a stable asset without relying on custodians, bridges, or wrapped BTC.

Objective

Demonstrate that Tachi can support Bitcoin-native credit and stable-value rails for payments, DeFi, treasury management, and institutional use cases.

What It Needs to Prove

Users and institutions can create stable liquidity against native BTC while preserving self-custody, on-chain verifiability, and strong collateral transparency.

Description

Build a lending and borrowing protocol that supports BTC-collateralized credit markets on Tachi, with AI-driven credit scoring, risk monitoring, or collateral management.

Objective

Demonstrate a Morpho/Euler-style lending market for native BTC collateral, adapted to Tachi's self-custodial and verifiable architecture.

What It Needs to Prove

Tachi can support capital-efficient BTC lending without custodians, wrapped assets, or opaque counterparty risk.

Description

Build a fully self-custodial, Bitcoin-backed digital credit protocol that allows institutions, DATCOs, and users to issue and borrow against BTC locked in TAURUS vaults, without custodians, bridges, or wrapped assets.

Objective

Demonstrate that Tachi can power institutional-grade BTC-backed credit while maintaining full self-custody, on-chain verifiability, and unilateral recourse. This is a flagship use case for capital-efficient Bitcoin treasury management and credit markets.

What It Needs to Prove

  • Institutions can issue and manage BTC-backed credit products without giving up custody
  • Tachi enables capital-efficient credit markets while keeping BTC sovereign and native
  • Credit issuance and repayment can be verifiable and auditable at scale
  • Tachi can facilitate capital repatriation and productive use of BTC treasuries

Requirements

  • Users or institutions lock BTC into TAURUS vaults as collateral
  • Issue BTC-backed digital credit tokens, such as stBTC or STRC-style tokens
  • Programmable loan terms: fixed-rate, fixed-term, LTV ratios, interest accrual, and repayment schedules
  • Automated interest and repayment logic
